STOP! Potty time....

Over the Christmas holidays Addison became fascinated with the potty. I was planning on starting the adventure of potty training during spring break but, she dove in on her own a little early. She has thus far in her little life been a really fast learner and likes to know all the ins-and-outs of everything. The potty is no different. I decided while I was pregnant to use a potty insert chair and not a little potty chair to get her use to the real thing, using toilet paper and flushing too. There is nothing worse or more unsanitary to me than a potty chair. Some people may love them..... I am not a fan. After all of her questions and experimenting we brought out the Dora potty seat! "WOW! I like it, its pink too" she says. I decided that since the early training was her idea that we would follow her lead. So far so good. Every night we potty before bathing, we potty first thing in the morning (her diaper is wet at least 3 out of 7 nights), and we ask to potty randomly throughout the day. Pooping in the potty is a big JAZZ for her (and us)! She hates to have a dirty diaper and is quite fascinated with how pooping in the potty remedies that little trouble in her everyday life. We haven't used any real panties yet but she has seen them and is really excited about the opportunity to own a pair :) I do not wish her to grow-up this fast but I can't see the logic in holding her back in her own little endeavor either. Now if we could just flush the pacy with the poopy!! Nah, we'll let her hold on to that for a little longer I guess.

Meet Bert & Ernie

Oh No! The stress of my first pet

Welcome Bert and Ernie! Addison received her first pet this year for Christmas from the Lamberth gang! A pair of Aqua Frogs ~ Bert and Ernie Aqua frogs actually. I had a set of these in college (Pete and Repeat - because they sat on a log) and loved them dearly. The set made 2 successful moves with me and then my landlords cat........ well let's just say I was sad. Anyway Addison and myself are so very excited about these frogs and are up to the challenge of giving them a long healthy life here. We haven't found a permanent spot for the 2 of them so right now they are hanging out on our sofa table with a little afternoon sunlight to enjoy. They seem happy and Addison ask them everyday "You Bert and Ernie! Do you like your name? Are you alright? Wan't me to hold you?" So we say Thank You Lamberth gang for adding this awesome twosome to our family!

Poor Addison

**Side note: This is way out of the normal Addison box and that's why I had to grab the camera and take a few pics. She never pitches these types of tantrums or flips out like this at all but......... she hasn't felt very good for a few days nor have we slept very well because of her congestion. So I guess this is truly what sleep deprivation and a stuffy/runny nose will do to a sweet little girl. Either way it was "her first fit" so it had to be captured on film :)

Get out of here sicky!

Poor Addison has started the New Year off with a nasty cold! She has ran a slight fever 99.2 - 100.1 for a little over 24 hours and I have been alternating Tylenol with Motrin and a splash of Triaminic for the nasty cough. She seems to feel a little better today but still not quite back to being that little smiling happy girl just yet. But when you ask if she hurts anywhere she says "Uh huh I need a band-aid" and then we say "Get out of Addison you sicky! Leave her alone" and she giggles. We may have to make a visit to the Dr. on our last day of Christmas break if she doesn't sleep better tonight :(

Addison's Book Of the Month

We read to Addison every night sometimes 2 or 3 books but they are almost always "kiddie" books. I have decided to revert back to reading her one novel a month like I did when she was younger and had no opinion in the night story department. I would read the kid everything when she was infant. I read the entire Anne of Green Gables collection, Harry Potter and several others because all she needed at that point was to learn vocabulary and to hear my voice. But then she grew, and started chosing her own books. Some weeks I know I have read pinkalicious, purplicious and goldilicious three and four times each! ENOUGH!! We will still continue to read her book selections but I am also gonna squeeze one semi-kid friendly novel in their too! This months selections come from my personal childhood library....... Noel Streatfields "Theatre Shoes". I started with this one because I haven't read it in probably 20 years and the mothers name was Adeline, "Addi" for short! She seems to enjoy that part so far

2010 Resolutions

Stephen and I always make a Resolution list just like I'm sure everyone does and half of the list is "stuck to" and the other half is well........ not. This year I decided to let Addison help me with a "Resolution Chain". Stephen and I wrote our resolutions on Snowflake and Snow Men cutt-outs then Addison and I strung them on a ribbon to hang on the China cabinet this way we have to look at them several times a day and maybe they will be a little easier to follow. Although, I'm probably only gonna leave the chain hanging for a week or so, it still was a fun project to do.

Heather's Resolutions:
1. Keep car cleaner (exterior too)
2. Adopt a weekly chore sched.
3. Up my work-out routine
4. Help Stephen stay on top of his book work
5. Finish craft projects (sewing and scrapbooking)
6. no computer surfing while Addison is awake
7. teach Addison one new thing every week (big thing)

Stephen's Resolutions:
1. Call his mom at least monthly (I know!)
2. Get to church on time
3. Spend more quality time at home and with Heather
4. Be more productiive with down-time
5. Keep a positive attitude
6. stay on top of book work

Addison's Resolutions:
1. Use the potty
2. Lose the pacy
** I know she's not 2 yet but she does have the whole year to complete hers :)

Happy Birthday Paw-Paw

My dad's birthday in News Years Day and every year we have a huge dinner with tons of desserts at my parents house and this year was no exception. We bought him a Rain Drop shower head and Addison made him a card. Eveyone came and we ate, sat around, and ate some more. What a fun filled way to start 2010
